In such a situation, after Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and BJP MP Ram Kripal Yadav, now former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi has also demanded extension of the tenure of Panchayat representatives. Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi made a tweet on Friday from his official Twitter handle demanding extension of the tenure of Panchayat representatives by 6 months. The tenure of about 2.58 lakh panchayat representatives in Bihar will end on June 15.

Manjhi, the chief of Hindustani Awam Morcha included in the Nitish Kumar government, has reacted to this. He wrote in the tweet, ‘Many times during the Emergency, the tenure of the Lok Sabha was extended under Article 352 of the Constitution. Keeping in mind the emergency crisis of Corona, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is requested to extend the tenure of Panchayat representatives for at least 6 months. So that the development work of the rural area will continue.

In the midst of the Corona crisis, it is not possible to conduct the Panchayat elections in Bihar on time. In this regard, the government or the election department has not made any announcement regarding the election so far. Earlier on Thursday, BJP MP Ram Kripal Yadav also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister. After the expiry of the tenure of the Panchayat representatives, till the elections are held and new public representatives do not come, they have demanded to extend it.

Patliputra MP Ramkripal Yadav wrote in his letter, ‘Due to the Corona epidemic, Bihar Panchayat Election 2021 has reached a position of postponement for the time being. In the absence of elections, a constitutional crisis will arise in front of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system. He further wrote that most of the schemes of the Central Government and the State Government, which are related to the development of Panchayats, are also facing administrative crisis in their implementation.
