The news of Mehul Choksi, an accused in the PNB scam, having fled to Cuba has been rumored by his lawyer. However, he has admitted that the reports of Choksi’s disappearance in Antigua are true. Advocate Vijay Aggarwal said that Mehul is the ‘Valid Citizen’ of Antigua. There is no danger to him. After all, why would he flee Antigua. Aggarwal also said that Choksi’s family has told that the CID has joined the Antigua police in search of a diamond trader.
Choksi’s lawyer reiterated that he would not go anywhere from Antigua. The reason is that a ‘Red Corner Notice’ has been issued against him. If he tries to cross any international border, he will be taken into custody. Information will be given to the Government of India.
Reports of disappearance
There were reports in the media that the police had stepped up the search for Mehul. He went to his restaurant in Antigua for dinner in a restaurant. Did not show again after this. His car was found in Jolly Harbor. But, there is no information about that. Choksi acquired citizenship of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda in 2017, before fleeing to India in January 2018.
